About the Salary Calculator
Hours per week turn any period into an hourly rate. Days per week turn any period into a daily rate. Overtime multipliers, unpaid leave, and bonuses are not modeled.
Use this to compare a job posting quoted hourly with one quoted annually, or to see a monthly equivalent before you look at taxes on the income tax calculator. The figures are gross: they do not subtract federal income tax, FICA, or benefits. Hours per week must be 1–168 and days per week 1–7.
How the Salary Calculator works
Everything routes through an annual figure, then divides by the target period.
Annual from hourly = hourly × hours/week × 52
Monthly = annual ÷ 12; biweekly = annual ÷ 26; semimonthly = annual ÷ 24
Example
$25 per hour at 40 hours/week is $52,000 a year, $4,333.33 a month, and $2,000 a week.
How to Use the Salary Calculator
- Choose the period you were given.
- Enter that amount.
- Set hours per week (for hourly and for the hourly equivalent).
- Set days per week (for the daily equivalent).
- Read every other period.
Salary Calculator Examples
$60,000 salary
At 40 hours and 5 days, that is about $28.85 an hour and $5,000 a month.
Part-time 20 hours
$20 an hour at 20 hours/week is $20,800 a year, not $41,600.
Semimonthly vs biweekly
Semimonthly is 24 checks; biweekly is 26. The same annual pay produces different check sizes.
How to Convert Hourly to Salary
Multiply hourly rate × hours per week × 52. To go the other way, divide annual pay by that same hour count.
$25/hour at 40 hours
These are the calculator’s equivalents.
| Period | Amount |
|---|---|
| Hourly | $25.00 |
| Weekly | $1,000.00 |
| Biweekly | $2,000.00 |
| Monthly | $4,333.33 |
| Annual | $52,000.00 |
Job-offer caveats
Benefits, unpaid internships, 1099 vs W-2, and local overtime rules change take-home pay more than the period conversion. Use the income tax calculator only for a rough federal ordinary-tax slice. Hours per week change the hourly equivalent of a salary: $60,000 at 40 hours is about $28.85/hour, but the same salary at 50 hours is $23.08/hour. Days per week only affect the daily line. Semimonthly (24) and biweekly (26) checks are not the same size at a given annual pay — that is why two postings can quote different “per paycheck” figures for one salary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why 52 weeks?
It is the usual full-year convention. Some employers pay 50 or 51 weeks after unpaid time off.
Is this after tax?
No. These are gross equivalents.
What is semimonthly?
Two checks per month, often the 15th and the last day — 24 per year.
Does overtime count?
Not automatically. Enter an hours-per-week figure that already includes typical overtime if you want that baked in.
Can days exceed 7?
No. The calculator rejects more than 7 days per week.
